MENS NOTES:

We travel to the FBD7’s at the weekend to defend the title which we won last year.  Best of luck to all involved.  Other Galway teams travelling include Tuam Stars, Milltown, Kilkerrin-Clonbern and Caherlistrane.

Our seniors qualified for the final of the John Dunne Cup following their 0-14 to 0-4 win over Naomh Anna, Leitir Móir last weekend.  They play Micheál Breathnach in the final.

Under 15s beat Annaghdown in the first round league on Sunday in Belclare.

We play Glenamaddy/Glinsk away on Sunday 21st in the next round at 12.00.

Under 12s also play Glenamaddy/Glinsk on Sunday @ 11.00 in Glinsk.

Our under 8s travel to Ballyshannon to play matches against Aodh Ruadh on Saturday 4 October.  The cost of the tour is €30 per player, which includes bus, lunch, dinner and a Corofin ‘goodie bag’ containing club branded gear. All money and consent forms, signed by parents, must be returned to Ciarán Lynch by Saturday 27 September at latest.  Only paid up club members may travel.

The club is proposing to offer a Heartsaver AED Course to team managers / mentors initially and then to interested players / members.  The course teaches the basic techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and the relief of choking for adults, children and infants.  An AED is a computerised defibrillator which analyses the heart rhythm of a person in cardiac arrest and uses voice prompts to advise if a shock is needed. The AED is an important link in the chain of survival and this course teaches how to use them effectively. The Heartsaver AED Course takes approximately 4½ hours to complete and participants will receive an Irish Heart Foundation / American Heart Association course completion card upon successfully completing the course.

The course trainer is Brian Murphy, manager of the under 6 boys.  It is hoped to run the course on Saturdays. To register your interest and most suitable date, text John Fahey at 086 2805870.

We extend our sympathies to the Keating family, Caherhugh, Belclare, on the death has occurred of Hughie Keating, RIP.
