MENS NOTES:

Although Galway were defeated by Kerry in the All-Ireland quarter-final in Croke Park last Sunday, Tomás Healy and Micheál Lundy both had excellent games.  Micheál scored 1-1 and Tomás made a number of superb saves.  Well done also to the other club players on the Galway senior panel for all their work and commitment.

Five games in the senior championship (losers groups) are scheduled to be played this weekend, after which the draw for the preliminary quarter-finals will be made.

Our intermediates are due to play Claregalway in the championship at 5.30 pm in Pearse Stadium on Saturday.

The final of the Connacht GAA Senior Club Football Competition - The Leo Kenny Memorial Cup, took place on Tuesday, 29th July.  Salthill-Knockcarra ran out convincing winners on a scoreline of Salthill - Knocknacarra 2-12 to Corofin 0-9.

The scores after 7 questions in our prediction quiz have now been calculated.  Following Dermot Weld becoming the leading trainer for the 28th time at the 2014 Galway Races, with 8 wins, 6 seconds and 3 thirds, last weeks leader, Danny Ryder has been replaced by joint leaders Kevin Comer, David Kearney and Tommy Kelly.  Danny has moved back to 4th place.  Full details can be found on the club website.

LADIES FOOTBALL:

U8s training is on Tuesdays from 6.15 to 7.15 in Belclare.

The U10s training continues every Tuesday at 6.15 in Belclare and again every Thursday at 6.15 in Corofin.

U12s training this week takes place only on Wednesday at 6.15 in Belclare.

Congratulations to the Galway minor ladies, who defeated Cork on Monday evening in the All Ireland Minor 'A' Championship to claim two All Ireland's minor titles in a row.  The final score was Galway 3-21 to Cork 4-13.  Well done to our club player, Dearbhla Gower who is on the panel.

The seniors defeated St Brendans last Thursday in their 2nd round match on a scoreline of

6-16 to 2-7.

We have an important fundraising opportunity for Corofin Ladies with a bag pack day 9am to 9pm at Tesco Oranmore on Friday 8th August. This opportunity has been obtained for us by Sharon Fay, mum of one of our U14 players.

We need volunteers to people the bag pack and we need you all to text every club member to ask for their help. Initially you can ask volunteers to contact David Gower by text or e-mail to be put on the rota.

We need 4 people minimum at any one time. As long as there is an adult present, girls under 12 and upwards can help.
