MENS NOTES:

Following their defeat to Mayo in the Connacht final on Sunday, Galway footballers will now play Tipperary in O’Connor Park, Tullamore at 7.00 pm on Saturday 26 July. The game will be featured on Sky Sports.

The under 14 championship shield semi final v Glenamaddy-Glinsk, which was postponed last Friday evening as a mark of respect to the Reilly family on the death of Paddy, has been refixed for Friday 18 July.  The venue is to be confirmed.

Under 10 and 8 play Annaghdown on Saturday morning in Belclare at 11.00 am in the county blitz.

Under 6 continue training in Belclare on Saturday at 10.00 am.

The under 14 players, mentors and underage committee wish Rossa Ryan a speedy recovery to full health, following his horse riding accident.

Our sympathies are extended to the Reilly family, Rusheens, on the sad loss of Paddy Reilly, RIP, our Club Treasurer.  Club members, players and Paddy's former work colleagues at St. Jarlath's Credit Union and Galway Crystal, formed a joint guard of honour at the removal from St Colman's Church, Corofin on Saturday.

The ‘Corofin Calling – Summer Festival 2014’ takes place this weekend, commencing with the sod turning of the new playground at 6.30 pm on Friday.  This is followed by a mixed 7 a-side Football Blitz starting at 7.00 pm.  Teams will consist of Corofin players past, present and future – 8 teams are taking part, including Burkes and Canneys Claretuam, Comers, Burkes of Brackloon, Farraghers and Greaneys, Morris's, O’Donovans, Sices, Steedes, Silkes and many more with ‘unique’ team managers.  Teams comprise one player from all grades from minor to masters and two ladies players. It's meant to be a fun event but early indications are that these players just don't understand ‘non-competitive’!

Full details of all the weekend’s events can be found on the “Change4corofin” website.
