MENS NOTES:

Best wishes to our club players in the Connacht final against Mayo on Sunday.

The intermediate team has drawn Claregalway in the next round of the championship.  Games are scheduled for the weekend of 9 / 10 August.

Our minors had a good win over Claregalway by 2-16 to 2-4 in the North Board Championship, played last Wednesday evening.  Colin Brady scored both Corofin goals.

Congratulations to our Under-16s who won the Shield Final in St James' U-16 Tournament on Sunday.  Corofin defeated Annaghdown by 2-6 to 1-3 in the final.  Well done to all the lads who played.  They played 4 games in total.  This should prove to be a great preparation for the forthcoming championship.  The team play Claremorris in a challenge match this weekend in Claremorris.

The Under 14 team play Glenamaddy-Glinsk in the U14 Football Championship - Div 1, at 7.00 pm next Friday 11 July.  Venue has yet to be confirmed.

Under 10, 8 and 6 continue training in Belclare on Saturday morning at 10.00 am.

The ‘Corofin Calling – Summer Festival 2014’ takes place from Fri 18th to Sun 20th July.  On Friday evening we are having a 7’s Football Blitz comprising of teams of 7, with each game lasting 7 minutes.  The teams will be mixed, with one senior team player and one ladies team player on each team.  There is a packed array of events on Saturday starting at 10.00 am and concluding with a 80’s Themed Disco from 10.00 pm until late.  On Sunday there will be an Agricultural & Vintage Family Day from 11.30 am to 5.30 pm.  The weekend concludes with a family barbeque and live DJ from 6 to 9 on Sunday evening.  Full details can be found on the “Change4corofin” website.

LADIES FOOTBALL:

The U8s have training every Tuesday at 6.15 in Belclare.

The U10s have training every Tuesday at 6.15 in Belclare and again every Thursday at 6.15 in Corofin.

There is no U12 training on Thursday the 10th.

Well done to the Community games team. They beat Mayo in the Connaught semifinal, but lost out to a very strong Leitrim side in the final.

Congratulations and well done to all our senior club players who were part of the Galway senior Panel on winning 3 Connaught titles in a row.  Galway defeated Mayo on a scoreline of Glaway 1-16 to Mayo 1-12.  The TG4 Player of the Match was Emer Flaherty, Galway.

Congratulations and well done to Leanne Coen, Orla Canney, Chelsey Blade, and team mentor, Stephen Hession, as they are now through to a Connaught u16 final after defeating Sligo last Saturday.

Galway LGFA and Corofin Ladies club are looking for 2 volunteers, to help with the coaching of the U13 development panel.  This would be good experience for anyone interested in becoming involved with underage coaching.  Details can be had from David Gower.
