MENS NOTES:

Congrats to Micheál Lundy and Greg Higgins who were both part of the Galway victory over London on Sunday in Ruislip.  The Galway footballers next play Sligo in the Connacht Football Semi-Final on Saturday 21 June in Markievicz Park at 7.00pm.

Our seniors have a league game against Milltown at 2.00pm in Corofin           next Sunday, 1 June with referee Martin Flaherty.

The intermediates play Mícheál Breathnach at the weekend – details on web site as they become available.

The Raftery Cup finals were played last Wednesday evening in Corofin.  A large crowd attended and was provided with excellent entertainment in all the five game that took place.  The evening commenced with an entertaining exhibition 7-a-side game between Ballinderry and Belclare.  We then had the two shield finals.  Sylane defeated St. Colman’s (Cummer) by 7-8 to 2-4 in the 7-a-side final.  The 9-a-side shield final was a much closer affair as Annagh defeated Ballinderry by 3-9 to 3-2.  The two main finals then followed, with Castlehackett having a good win over Corrandrum on a scoreline of 9-7 to 5-5 in the 7-a-side Raftery Cup final. The 9-a-side final between Belclare and St. Colman’s provided the best and closed game of the evening.  At half time Belclare held a four-point lead of 2-6 to 1-5.  The game ebbed and flowed in the second half with St Colman’s taking a two-point lead mid way through the half.  However, Belclare hit back to win out by two points in an exciting finish on a scoreline of 3-12 to 3-10.  The future of Corofin football looks very bright following the great displays of skill and commitment show by all 10 teams who took part on the evening.  Thanks again to all in the club who organised the event, all referees and officials and to the Raftery family for sponsoring.

Under 14s drew with Monivea / Abbeyknockmoy in the divisional league final on a scoreline of 1-11 to 3-5.  No date is available yet for the replay.

Well done to all the Under 8 and Under 10 footballers who played for Corofin this Monday evening against Ballinasloe. Thanks to all the parents that came to support and helped on the sideline. Both teams had great.

We will be hosting Nemo Rangers from Cork for the Féile weekend, 27, 28, 29 June.  We will have more information in the next few weeks re the Féile weekend.

After the under 16s epic win in the rain last week over Claregalway, we wish the girls good luck in the League final against Kilkerrin/Clonberne, which is fixed for this Wednesday in Mountbellew at 7.00 pm.
