Our adult teams had a busy weekend, with all three teams playing. The following are the results from the games:
In the Intermediate Football Championship, Claregalway 1-15 to Corofin 1-14, after extra time.
In the Junior A Football Championship – North, Corofin 1-11 to Caltra 0-6. Corofin have been drawn to play Tuam in the next round.
In the Senior League, Corofin 1-16 to An Cheathrú 1-8.
Well done to all teams at the weekend. Hard luck in particular to the Intemediate team who lost both their championship games by just 1 point.
As part of the ongoing club development, the club have purchased a Portacabin sited for the moment behind Raftery’s Centra in Corofin, for use as a club office. More details are on the club website.
Well done to the Under 12s on a well earned win over St. Gabriel’s last week in Kilconnell. They play the 'A' final of the league against Kilconnell on 29 June.
Hard luck to the U/10 Community Games Gaelic Football team who were beaten by St. Mary's Sligo on Wednesday evening last in Belclare. They played their hearts out but on the night Sligo were the stronger team. Thanks to their Management team headed by Gary and a huge thanks to all the parents who provided refreshments and to Frank Morris and the Belclare Committee for giving Community Games the use of their facilities to play the game.
The closing date for the club’s prediction sports quiz is almost upon us. All cards must be returned by Wednesday 26 June. Cards returned after that date may not have all events counted in the scoring. Full details are on the website and cards, costing €10, can be purchased from any committee member.
Corofin native Niall Higgins will battle the elements on this Wednesday, 19 June covering 390 miles of road from Mizen to Malin Head to raise funds for the local community development projects. Niall will cycle through mountainous terrain and country roads probably through torrential downpours and blazing sun (all seasons in one day in Ireland) certainly not for the faint hearted. Full details are on “www.change4corofin.com”.
