CLUBHOUSE DEVELOPMENT

Works are progressing with great speed on the new Clubhouse Development at Corofin Pitch grounds. The steel has been erected for the Indoor Multi-Purpose Hall, the Meeting Rooms, Reception and Kitchen area.

The site is prepared for the concrete pour on the Indoor Multi-Purpose Hall this Thursday. This is an exciting development of facilities which will be of great benefit to not just the Club but to the broader community.

GAA CLUB NOTES

On Thursday evening the Junior team were away to Glinsk for Round 7 of Division 4B and it was a tough fixture for the lads as it was Glinsk’s first team against our third team. However the team kept competing right to the end. Final score Glinsk 3-12 Corofin 1-05.

Also on Thursday evening, the Senior team were away to Westside to play St Michael’s for Round 7 of Division 1. It was a tough, physical game but the lads were more than able to deal with it. Goals from Gary Sice, Dylan Brady and Cian Murphy gave the lads a commanding lead as the game finished Corofin 3-16 St Michael’s 1-13.

On Saturday the Intermediate team hosted Naomh Anna, Leitir Mór at Corofin pitch for Round 7 of Division 3A. It was a keenly contested game with both teams going on the attack.Neither team could keep the lead with the score being even at the final whistle, Corofin 2-17 Leitir Mór 2-17. Goals from Dylan Canney and Cian Murphy.

On Sunday the Junior A team kick started their Championship with Round 1 away to Dunmore MacHales. The host team were always favourite but that didn’t stop our lads from going on the attack. Three goals were unfortunately not enough to lift the team ahead on the scoreboard. The game finished Corofin 3-04 Dunmore MacHales 4-12.

On Monday evening the Junior D team hosted Tuam Stars in Corofin for Round 5 of the Junior D Championship North. It was a heavy defeat for the club’s fifth adult team, but the group enjoyed a good run out.

Next Sunday the Galway Seniors play round 3 of the All-Ireland Football Series Group 1. They travel to Markievicz Park to play Armagh, throw-in at 1:45pm. Good luck to all Club players involved in the Galway panel, extended panel and on stand-by.

UNDERAGE

Congratulations to the Galway Ladies U14’s and club players Orla Newell and Ellie Harty-O’Brien on their All-Ireland Platinum ‘A’ win over Cavan in Kinnegad last Saturday. It was an incredible game that needed extra-time to separate the teams. Supersub Ellie Harty-O’Brien was sprung from the bench in the 2nd half and scored an impressive 2-01 to help Galway to their massive win! Galway 4-15 Cavan 4-11.

The Nursery Group continues every Saturday from 10:30am until 11:15am. This is training for Boys and Girls born in 2018/2019.
