CLUBHOUSE DEVELOPMENT

There was great excitement last week to see the plant and machinery move on site at Corofin GAA grounds as the works on the new Clubhouse commence. This represents the largest investment in the Club’s history and the finished building will be an essential facility for the Club and community for generations to come. Without your continued support, projects like this would never be possible. We look forward to your continued support to ensure this project is seen through to completion.

GAA CLUB NOTES

The 3 Dental Galway Leagues and Junior A Cahill Cup games all kicked off from last Thursday. The Senior team were due to play against Killannin for their 1st Round of Division 1 on Thursday but due to unplayable pitches, both in Corofin and Killannin, the game was cancelled and is due for rescheduling this week. The details of the rescheduled fixture were not confirmed at the time of submitting these notes.

On Saturday morning the Junior A Cahill Cup opener was to be played against Caherlistrane, in Caherlistrane, but due to unplayable surfaces, that game too was called off. At the same time, the Intermediates travelled out west to Inverin to play Micheál Breathnach’s for the opening round of the Division 3A League. The lads started very strong and had a well deserved lead at the break with the scoreline at Corofin 0-08 Micheál Breathnach 1-00. The second half was more closely contested but the lads kept control of the scoreboard and the game finished up Corofin 0-12 Micheál Breathnach 1-03.

On Monday afternoon, the U-17’s kick-started their Sweeney Oil U-17 A League as they hosted Claregalway at Corofin Pitch. On Tuesday evening the Junior team got their Division 4B campaign underway as they hosted Tuam Stars at Corofin pitch. For the result of these games, please check our Social Media posts on Facebook, X and Instagram.

On Saturday afternoon Galway played Dublin in Round 6 of the Allianz Football League in Pearse Stadium. It was always going to be a difficult game, hosting the reigning All-Ireland Champions, but it was a disappointed result in the end which leaves Galway with the threat of relegation with 3 defeats in 6 games. Dylan McHugh started the game while Kieran Molloy, Liam Silke, Patrick Egan and Jack McCabe were named on the bench. Jack McCabe was brought on in the 57th minute and scored a great point and Patrick Egan was brought on in the 61st minute for Johnny Heaney.

LGFA CLUB NOTES
