GAA CLUB NOTES

On Sunday the U-17’s played Salthill-Knocknacarra in The Priarie for the U-17 A Quarter Final. The game was played in wet conditions but that did not dampen the spectacle of football. The lads played very good football and led the game by 3 points at the break. Salthill-Knocknacarra chipped away at that gap over the 2nd half and by the final whistle the teams were all square. Into extra-time and tired legs started to prevail with Salthill-Knocknacarra getting some crucial scores to pull away. Final scoreline was Corofin 4-11 Salthill-Knocknacarra 7-11. It was a very proud performance from the players where only 3 scores were the difference.

On Saturday the Intermediates play their Relegation Round 1 against An Cheathrú Rua in Pearse Stadium at 3:30pm. Just afterwards, the Junior team play Salthill-Knocknacarra in The Priarie at 5:45pm for their Junior 2 Championship Quarter Final.

On Sunday the Senior team play Bearna in Headford at 4:30pm for Round 5 of the Senior Championship Group 2.

Best of luck to all the players and management teams this weekend. The links for tickets to the Senior & Intermediate games are below:

General Admission is €10, u-16’s go free.

LGFA CLUB NOTES

On Friday the Junior ‘E’ team hosted Monivea-Abbey for Round 2 of their Championship. It was a great performance against very strong opposition. A hat-trick of goals from Ciara Coen, including a very calmly struck penalty, was not enough to secure the win unfortunately. Final score was Corofin 3-07 Monivea-Abbey 2-15.

On Saturday the Senior team hosted Claregalway for Round 2 of the Senior Championship. The scores were even at the break with the girls putting in a fantastic performance. However, Claregalway came back into the game with some well taken scores to steal the win. Final score Corofin 0-10 Claregalway 3-06.

On Sunday morning the Junior ‘B’ team hosted Kilkerrin-Clonberne for Round 2 of the Junior B Championship. The girls created plenty of scoring opportunities, hitting the post of the goal at one stage after a brilliant team move. Unfortunately Kilkerrin-Clonberne were creating just a many opportunities and the scoreline finished at Corofin 3-06 Kilkerrin-Clonberne 4-11.

UNDERAGE

It was a fantastic day of Gaelic games in Belclare on Saturday as our talented under 8s went head-to-head with Tuam in an action-packed blitz. We couldn't be prouder of our young stars. A huge congratulations to all the players for their hard work and dedication on the field.

A fantastic morning our U10s had in Tuam, participating in the Declan Kearns Memorial Tournament! We engaged in thrilling battles against Tuam, Annaghdown, Caherlistrane, and Mountbellew for the second week in a row. The real winners of the day were football, fun, and skill!
