On Saturday the Senior team played Caherlistrane in Tuam Stadium for Round 4 of the Senior Championship. It was a dominant performance from the team throughout the game. Two second half goals from Kieran Molloy put the final scoreline at Corofin 2-18 Caherlistrane 0-04.

However, a late push from Clifden, including a goal, saw them snatch the win with a final scoreline of Corofin 0-11 Clifden 1-10.

LGFA CLUB NOTES

On Saturday the Senior team travelled to Clonberne to play Kilkerrin-Clonberne in Round 1 of the Senior Championship. It was always going to be a tough game against a very strong opposition. Players and management never dropped their heads but Kilkerrin-Clonberne ended up convincing winners.

On Sunday the Junior team travelled to Kilconly for their opening round of the Junior Championship. Strong opposition again with Kilconly holding a 10-point lead at one stage. A tough, physical game for the girls but they fought their way back in to the game and after a goal-fest from both teams, the game finished Corofin 8-7 Kilconly 5-15 giving our girls a single-point victory. Well done ladies!

This evening (Monday) the Junior E team travelled to Oughterard for their first round of the Championship. It was a good performance from the girls with goals coming from Emma Burke, Clodagh Quirke and Ciara Coen (x3) securing the win. Final scoreline finished on Corofin 5-5 Oughterard 2-10.

UNDERAGE

Last Thursday the U-16 Girls played Annaghdown in the Division 1 Shield Final in Corofin. Hard luck to the girls, who were up against a very strong Annaghdown side. This team has improved so much game-on-game and should be very proud of the season they had.

Also on Thursday evening, the U-13 Boys played their Shield Final against Caherlistrane in Tuam Stadium. It was a very competitive game with both teams displaying fantastic skill and thankfully our boys were able to come away with the win.

Saturday morning saw the Club host the Kevin Killeen Memorial Tournament in Belclare for U-10’s. It was a great morning of sport with 5 Clubs; Annaghdown, Caherlistrane, Mountbellew-Moylough, Tuam Stars & ourselves. Over 150 players participated in 20 games and it was a great to have Kevin’s parents Eileen and Fintan at the tournament to see the next generation of Galway Footballers putting on a fine display in Kevin’s memory. Well done to all who helped organise the Tournament and thank you to all the Clubs who participated.

On Saturday morning the U-9 Boys played Oranmore in a tough blitz, very well done by all the boys as they represented the Club proudly as always. Also on Saturday morning the U-8 Girls played a blitz against Naomh Mhuire in Maree. A great day was had and some great football was on display. Thanks to Oranmore for hosting & the ice cream truck at the end was a lovely treat.

Our young stars had a blast at the U-7 Boys blitz in Annaghdown on Sunday morning! The sun shone and our budding athletes showcased their incredible skills and teamwork. A huge thanks to Annaghdown GAA club for hosting this fantastic event and for the delicious treats that followed.
