GAA CLUB NOTES

On Saturday the Seniors played Round 2 of the Championship against Killannin in difficult conditions at Pearse Stadium. The lads took control early in the game and despite a late surge from Killannin, which included a goal, the lads were able to see out the game with a win. Corofin 0-10 Killannin 1-4.

On Sunday the Intermediates played their opening round of their Championship against Caltra in Duggan Park, Ballinasloe. The lads had a lead at half-time thanks to a goal from Conor Newell but Caltra put in a spirited display for the send half and finished the game well. Corofin 1-06 Caltra 1-10.

The U-19 Championship game against Dunmore Mac Hales fixed for this Wednesday has been re-scheduled to 30th August. Details of the fixture will be confirmed closer to the date.

LGFA CLUB NOTES

The victorious Galway Minor team will be doing a tour through the County on Sunday and our own Ella Zywczyk will be front-row and centre of the group as they stop at Belclare on Sunday at 12:30pm! The girls have done their County and their Clubs very proud this year in winning the All-Ireland Minor ‘A’ title. It would be great if you could be in Belclare to welcome the team to show your support of their All-Ireland success. That’s Belclare, Sunday 20th August, at 12:30pm – See you all there!

On Thursday the Junior team play their League Semi-Final against Salthill-Knocknacarra at 7:30pm in Corofin. Please come to Corofin pitch and show your support for the girls. Best of luck to the players and Management.

UNDERAGE

The U-9 Boys had a great game against Cortoon in Belclare last Saturday morning in testing conditions. It was a great display of football, well done to all the boys and Coaches.

Also on Saturday morning, Club players Cian Raftery, Killian Joyce, Tiernan Looney and Aaron Murphy were part of the Galway U-16 development Team that won the Ted Webb Shield this morning against Laois in Duggan Park. Galway 3-12 Laois 2-07. Later the same day, Club players Aaron O'Malley, Oisin Kelly, Conor Winston & Adam Harty were part of the Galway U-15 Development squad that won the All Ireland series Adam Mangan Memorial Cup in Kilclonfert, Offaly yesterday. Galway 0-7 Offaly 0-6. Well done lads.

On Sunday the U-13 Boys played Oranmore-Maree in the Division 1 Semi-Final. After a tightly contested game, normal time ended in a draw and extra-time was needed to separate the two teams. Despite a gallant effort from the lads, Oranmore-Maree came out on top. Nothing lost for our lads in defeat, we thank all players for a serious effort who are developing well as a team and we are sure there will be many more entertaining matches in the future with this group.

This evening the U-12 Girls Blue team defeated Annaghdown in the Division 1 Autumn League. It was a great footballing display and their teamwork really paid off as they pulled away in the final quarter. Well done girls!

Next Sunday morning the U-17 Boys team host Tuam Stars in Corofin at 11:30am for their 3rd Round of the U-17 A Championship. Best of luck to the boys and coaches!
