GAA CLUB NOTES

On Thursday the Junior team hosted Glink in Corofin for their Round 4 fixture of the Division 4B League. It was a tight 1st half with just 3 points separating the teams at the break, Corofin with the advantage. The lads put in a great performance in the 2nd half and secured the win with a scoreline of Corofin 2-18 Glinsk 2-10. Goals from Finn McIntyre and Justin Burke.

 

On Friday the Senior team hosted Annaghdown in Corofin for their Round 4 fixture of the Division 1 League. The lads had a 2-point advantage at halftime but were unable to keep that lead through to the end. It was a well fought game, ultimately ending in a draw. Corofin 2-10 Annaghdown 1-13. Goals from Dylan Canney and Conor Carson.

 

On Saturday the Intermediate team were away to a very strong Oughterard team for their Round 4 fixture of the Division 3A League. A single point separated the teams at the break but it was Oughterard who came out winners in a highly entertaining game. Corofin 1-13 Oughterard 3-9. Goal from Colin Kelly.

 

On Sunday the Junior D team were away to St Gabriel’s for their 1st round fixture of the Junior D North Championship. This is the Club’s 5th adult team and the put in a fine performance and the game ended in a draw, Corofin 0-9 St Gabriel’s 0-9. Well done everyone.

 

On Wednesday the U19’s host Claregalway in Corofin at 7pm for Round 3 of their A Championship North.

 

The Galway Minors beat Roscommon on Friday in Tuam Stadium in Round 2 of the Connacht GAA Minor Football Championship League. Well done to Vincent Gill and Ross Coen who started the game.

 

On Sunday the Galway Seniors beat Roscommon in Dr Hyde Park in the Connacht GAA Senior Football Semi-Final. Bernard Power, Dylan McHugh and Ian Burke started the game, with Ian scoring a point at the start of the 2nd half. Well done lads. Galway will play Sligo in the Connacht Final on Sunday, 7th May at 1:45pm In McHale Park, Castlebar.

 

 

LGFA CLUB NOTES

On Sunday the Senior and Junior C teams played Tuam-Cortoon in Tuam Stars. The Senior team had a great performance against Tuam-Cortoon, finishing the game with a healthy winning margin, Corofin 3-11 Tuam Cortoon 1-4. Goals from Laura McTigue, Amy Cooley & Ella Zwczyk.

 

The Junior C team also put in a great display against Tuam-Cortoon, unfortunately the result did not go their way. Final score Corofin 2-7 Tuam-Cortoon 5-4. Goals from Ailbhe Killilea and Niamh Newell. Well done to the Players and Management on an excellent performance.

 

The Junior B team were away to St. Michael’s this evening (Monday) and enjoyed a great win, Corofin 5-6 St. Michael’s 2-3. Goals from Ella Zywczyk, Megan Daly, Heather O'Leary (x2), Louise O'Reilly. Well done everyone.

 

 

UNDERAGE

The U12 girls got their 2023 League campaigns off to a great start. On Monday the Yellow team had a great win over Caltra Cuans in Belclare, on Tuesday the Green team put in a fantastic performance but narrowly lost out to Fr Griffins / Eire Óg and on Wednesday the Blue team played some great football to beat St James’s. Well done to the girls and Management.

 

On Wednesday the U16 girls had a great win over a strong An Spidéal in the first round of their Division 2 campaign. Well done to everyone involved.

 

On Friday evening the U13 boys played their Round 3 fixtures of the league. The A team drew with a strong Loughrea A team, the B team had a great win over Loughrea B team while the C team lost out to Maree-Oranmore. Well done to the Players and Management.

 

 

CLUB CELEBRATION NIGHT

Save the date! Please note the revised date for the Club Celebration Night is May 26th. A great night will be in store as we present medals due to players, including All-Ireland medals for two of the historic 3-in-a-row teams! Details on venue, tickets, etc will be announced in due course. We look forward to celebrating our Club’s recent successes with as many of our Members and Supporters as possible.
