GAA CLUB NOTES

Fixtures - The Seniors host Killannin in Corofin this Saturday at 5pm for Round 2 of their Division 1 campaign. On Sunday the Juniors host Tuam Stars in Corofin at 11am for Round 2 of their Division 4B campaign while later in the day the Intermediates are away to Headford at 5:30pm for their Round 2 fixture of Division 3A.

 

Last Saturday Galway Seniors played Round 6 of their Allianz League game against Armagh in the Box-IT Athletic Grounds, Armagh. Galway were slow to get into the game but, despite conceding a freak goal early in the first half, they gradually started to get momentum on the scoreboard. The drive home was shortened by the positive result with Galway holding on for the win with the scoreline Galway 1-8 Armagh 1-6. Dylan McHugh started the game with Bernard Power named on the bench.

 

This leaves Galway in 2nd place with their final game against Kerry in Pearse Stadium next Sunday at 1:45pm.

 

 

LGFA CLUB NOTES

Last Sunday Galway Seniors played Round 6 of their Lidl NFL game against Mayo in Castlebar. It was a tight game throughout with Galway holding a 1-point lead going in at halftime, Galway 0- 7 Mayo 1-3 with 5 of Galway’s points kicked by Roisín Leonard. The 2nd half continued in the same manner but the Galway ladies were able to see out the game with their margin intact come full time. Galway 0-13 Mayo 2-6. Karen Connolly, Leanne Coen and Roisín Leonard started for Galway with Roisín scoring 5 points.

 

The next game for the Galway Seniors is against Kerry next Sunday in Tuam Stadium at 2:00pm.

 

 

CLUB SOCIAL

Save the date! Please note the revised date for the Club Social is May 26th. A great night will be in store as we present medals due to players, including All-Ireland medals for two of the historic 3-in-a-row teams! Details on venue, tickets, etc will be announced in due course. We look forward to celebrating our Club’s recent successes with as many of our Members and Supporters as possible.

Underage

The Nursery Group are starting back training sessions from Saturday 1st April from 10:30am to 11:30am in the Belclare Astro pitch. This is for boys and girls born in 2017/2018. Please ensure your child is registered before the return of training. Registration details are above.
