GAA CLUB NOTES

On Saturday Galway U20’s played Round 2 of their John Kerins Cup U20 Development League Division 1 campaign against Cork in Dr Hyde Park. It was a good game from Galway who came out eventual winners on a scoreline of Galway 1-11 Cork 0-7.

Bernard Coen, Brian Cogger and Patrick Egan were named in the starting 15 with Jack McCabe named in the substitutes.

The next game for Galway U20’s is against Laois for Round 3, Saturday 4th March at 2:00pm, in Tuam Stadium.

 

On Sunday Galway Senior team played Tyrone in Round 3 of their Allianz League campaign. It was tough conditions in Tuam stadium which did not make it easy for either team but Galway were able to command an early lead and hold on to it through to the end, despite a late 4-point rally from Tyrone in the last 5 minutes. Final score Galway 0-16 Tyrone 0-13.

Dylan McHugh and Ian Burke started the game with Bernard Power named among the substitutes. Ian Burke scored 1 point from play.

The next game for Galway Seniors is against Donegal for Round 4, Sunday 5th March at 12:30pm, in Letterkenny.

 

2023 MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION

LGFA CLUB NOTES

On Sunday Galway Seniors played Round 4 of their Lidl Ladies NFL Division 1 campaign against Cork in Pearse Stadium. Apart from a 3-goal blitz from Cork in 3 minutes before half-time, Galway were dominant of the game and kept the scoreboard moving in their favour throughout. Galway ended up winners on a scoreline of Galway 1-15 Cork 4-4.

Leanne Coen and Roisin Leonard started the game with Karen Connolly and Tracey Leonard named in the substitutes. Roisin scored 7 points (2 from frees) and Tracey came off the bench to score a point also.

The next game for Galway Seniors is against Waterford for Round 5, Sunday 26th February in Waterford.
