GAMES
On Saturday the Intermediate team played St. Brendan’s in Menlough for the Quarter Final of the Intermediate Championship. A quick start saw Patrick Egan score a goal in the first minute but St. Brendan’s still lead at halftime 0-8 to 1-4. The 2nd half saw a more assured display from the lads and another early goal, this time from Colin Kelly, really set the tone. 0-15 to 2-12 was the final score. They have drawn Dunmore MacHales for the Semi-Final. Best of luck to the Players and Management team in the Semi-Final.
On Sunday the Seniors played their final round of Group 1 in this years Championship against Tuam Stars in Tuam Stadium. It was a thrilling game to watch with the game tied at halftime on 8 points each and still tied again at the final whistle at 16 points each. Some great points were kicked by both sides but having hit the post and also a superb save from the Tuam Stars Goalkeeper in the 2nd half, the lads were unfortunate not to come away with the win. The draw was enough however to see the lads through to the next stage of the Championship.
The U17’s play against Tuam Stars next Sunday, 2nd October in Corofin at 11:00am for the final round of the group stage of their Championship. A win would leave lift them into 3rd place in their group. Best of luck to the Players and Management Team. Your support is greatly appreciated.
UNDERAGE NOTES
Well done to all the boys who played in the U13 Finals at the weekend. You put in 2 fantastically spirited performances. While the results didn’t go our way, we were in it right until the end in both games. Results: Ballinasloe 3-10 Corofin 1-11 (Div 4) and Salthill-Knocknacarra 3-9 Corofin 0-5 (Div 5).
The U11’s played their first league game on Sunday in Belclare. A very competitive game finished in a draw with our neighbours Annaghdown.
Thank you to Tuam Stars for hosting the annual Declan Kerins U10 blitz. Our players really enjoyed the morning of great sport.
Thank you also to our Senior players who helped out at our U8/9 training session on Saturday morning. Reminder that our nursery and U7 training continues as normal.
