GAMES

Congratulations to the Seniors who defeated Annaghdown 2-14 to 0-04 on Friday evening in Tuam Stadium in the Division 1 Final. Matthew Cooley’s goal in the first half came at a great time as it pushed Corofin into a 1-7 to 0-2 lead 8 minutes from half-time. The second half gave more of the same from Kevin Johnson’s men. Kevin introduced many young players and each of them slotted in seamlessly, with Patrick Egan adding the team’s second goal 5 minutes from full-time. Dylan Wall capped off a great personal performance by lifting the trophy on behalf of the team. The win gives the Seniors a great platform to kick-on into the Championship from.

On Saturday the Junior team played Ballinasloe in Corofin for their Division 4B Semi-Final. Ballinasloe came out winners on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-10. Two first half goals separated the teams at the end but it was certainly not an easy win for Ballinasloe, with both teams playing great football up to the final whistle.

Hard luck to Daithí Burke and the Galway Senior Hurlers who were defeated by Limerick on Sunday in the All-Ireland Semi-Final. Henry and his men have given us some great memories this year and plenty to be positive about for next year’s championship.

The Club wishes Padraic Joyce, his Backroom Team, Players and the strong Corofin contingent within the panel the very best of luck on Saturday as they play Derry in the All-Ireland Football Semi-Final. Safe travelling to all supporters going to the match and we hope we will have a Final to look forward to come Saturday evening.

UNDERAGE NOTES

On Thursday evening the U-12s played their final against Oranmore-Maree in Tuam Stadium. There were some great performances from the boys but were overcome by a very strong Oranmore-Maree team. Well done to the lads for getting to the final, plenty more days out to come from this group of players.

On Friday the U13A team had a tough battle against Micheál Breathnachs in Inverin. Considering some players were missing, the boys battled right to the end but lost on a scoreline of 2-12 to 2-7. The U-13B team also played on Friday evening, they hosted Ballinasloe in Corofin. It was a similarly tough day at the office for the B team as they lost out in the end to what was a very impressive Ballinasloe team.

On Saturday morning the U-12B team played Loughrea in Menlough and enjoyed a brilliant game of football. The game was tight throughout with Loughrea pulling towards the end and coming out eventual winners.

Some of the U-13 boys had a very busy weekend with a challenge game on Saturday morning against Downs GAA from Westmeath. Plenty of gametime on offer for the U-13’s last weekend and it was great to get the win from another competitive game.
