Final score Corofin 3-12 Headford 0-11. Goals from Patrick Egan (x2) and Colin Kelly. The Senior team travelled to Killannin on Sunday for their Round 2 Fixture in Division 1. Despite a rally of 7 points in 14 minutes in the second half, Killannin held on to win by a goal. Final score Killannin 1-13 Corofin 0-13. The Junior team kicked off their Division 4B on Sunday with a trip to Letterfrack to face an impressive Renvyle 1st team. After a difficult 1st half, Corofin improved greatly in the 2nd half outscoring Renvyle, however they could not overcome the 1st half deficit and Renvyle came out victorious. Last Sunday night saw Kevin O’Brien and Kieran Fitzgerald presented with their Galway People of the Year awards from 2020 at a function at the Galway Bay Hotel. Kevin and Kieran’s joint nomination represented both management team and players that achieved the 3-in-a-row Club All-Ireland Titles from 2018 – 2020. The award recognised not only the achievement itself but also the manner of the achievement as the management team and players showed what can be achieved when you have discipline and commitment. It was a great night at the awards for both Kevin and Kieran but equally so for their families who were there on the night. Club Membership for 2022 is still open for registration. Reminder to all Players that membership must be paid before resuming any training or matches. Information on registration and links to our online partner Clubforce can be found on our club website, www.corofingaa.ie or please contact the Club Registrar. Galway Footballers travelled to Dr. Hyde Park, Roscommon for their final round in the Allianz League. Kieran Molloy started for Galway as Toy Gill and Dylan Canney make their full debut in the Allianz League for Galway with Tony scoring a point. Dylan McHugh came off the bench as did Liam Silke who also got on the scoresheet with a point. Next up for Galway is the Division 2 Final next Sunday at 1:45pm in Croke Park against Roscommon again. Best of luck to Galway and the Corofin players on the panel. The game will be part of a Double Header with Mayo playing Kerry in the Division 1 Final also. Tickets can be purchased from Raftery’s Centra, Corofin.
