CLUB NOTES

Galway Footballers continued their good run in the Allianz Football League with a 3-22 to 2-17 win over Cork played in Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Saturday. Kieran Molloy, Liam Silke and Dylan McHugh started for Galway with Tony Gill and Darragh Silke coming on as subs. Great to see Dylan, Kieran and Tony getting on the scoresheet. Galway’s next game is against Offaly in Pearse Stadium on Sunday 6th March at 2pm.

Hard luck to Daithí Burke and the Galway Hurler’s in their defeat by Wexford in the Allianz Hurling League. Galway’s next game is against Cork in Pairc Ui Chaoimh Stadium on Saturday 5th March at 7pm.

We sympathise with the families and friends of the following who have died recently:

Midie Hussey, Belclare, one of our Club Vice-Presidents. Midie wore the club colours as a player with distinction, winning two North Galway and County Junior titles in 1959 and 1963. Midie also played on the team that lost to Tuam the following year having just gained promotion to Senior, a status the club has maintained since. After his playing days, Midie continued to train various teams, carried many players to games in his Ford Escort and managed the Minor team which won a County title in 1975.

We also remember James Casey, Ballintubber.

May they rest in peace.

Underage Notes:

The under 13s played two good challenge matches against Lissycasey from county Clare on Sunday in Clarecastle. Thank you to all the parents who travelled and to our opposition for hosting us so well. Training continues on Friday at 6 in Belclare.

Training continues for U15s on Friday and Sundays. U11s training is also on Sunday mornings. Our u8/9s training is on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Reminder to all age groups that the club membership is due and must be paid before resuming any training or matches.

Hard luck to St. Jarlath’s College on their defeat to Naas CBS on Saturday. You did us proud all year.

Underage coaches and management general meeting this Wednesday at 8.15. Coaching seminar for all underage and ladies club coaches on Saturday 12th March from 9 -11 in Belclare.
