CLUB NOTES:

The club received a great boost on Friday when it was announced that we were awarded a €128,310 Sports Capital Grant. This grant will go towards the Phase 1 development of our planned Clubhouse/Multi-Sports Indoor Complex. We are grateful to everyone who helped in the application process. When completed, the facility will be a great resource to the club and community.

Congratulations also to Belclare/Sylane Community Council for their €47,000 Sports Capital Grant for drainage works at their community sports facility. These facilities are a great benefit to our club and also to the community.

Galway hurlers had a good win in the league with a 0-27 to 1-18 win over Limerick played in

Limerick on Saturday evening with Daithí Burke captaining the team at full-back. Galway’s next game is against Wexford in Pearse Stadium on Sunday 27th February at 2pm.

We congratulate Kieran Fitzgerald on his Loachra Gael appearance, aired on TG4 last Thursday evening. The programme was very well received by viewers and it was great to see tributes being paid to Kieran for what he has achieved and in particular the manner in which has done so. Kieran continues to be a great ambassador for the club.

We sympathise with the families and friends of the following who have died recently:

Paraic Nolan, Anbally, Cummer, who was on the Minor team which won a County title in 1962, the Junior team which won the County Final in 1963 and played left half back on the senior team who lost to Tuam the following year having just gained promotion to Senior, a status the club has maintained since 1964.

We also remember Tony McHugh, Athlone; brother of the late Peter McHugh, Ballaghbawn who was laid to rest during the week.

May they rest in peace.

Please Note

The prize amounts above are what each winner will receive.
