Galway’s next game is against Offaly in Pearse Stadium on Sunday 20 February at 2pm.

DAITHÍ:

We congratulate Daithí Burke on being selected to captain the Galway senior hurling team for this year.  We send every best wishes to Daithí in the league and championship campaign.  Galway started their league campaign with a 4-22 to 0-17 win over Offaly in Pearse Stadium on Sunday.

FITZY:

The Laochra Gael series has returned to TG4 on Thursday evenings.  This Thursday evening the series features our own Kieran Fitzgerald.  In addition to Kieran, other participants in the show will include Michael Meehan, Emer Flaherty, Gary Sice, Stephen Rochford, Seán Moran and Máire Ní Bhraonáin.  The programme is being shown at 9.30 pm.

SYMPATHY:

We sympathise with the families and friends of the following who have died recently:

Noel Treacy, Gurteen Ballinasloe, who was a great supporter of the club during his term as Chairman of the County Committee.  He was a delighted County Chairman in Croke Park in the  Corofin dressing room when we won the All-Ireland Club title in 2015.

Mary Flaherty, Rusheens, who played a prominent role in the organising committee of the national sheep shearing event which was staged in Corofin in June 1990.   Her husband Pat was always a willing fundraiser, match day steward or official;  her son Martin was a tremendous servant on the playing field with our senior time while her grandson Conor Creaven is upholding that playing tradition to this day.

We also remember Marie Kyne, Caherlistrane, sister-in-law of Claire Tyrrell, Curry;  Ann McDonagh, Tuam, sister of Maureen Hession, Anbally;  Eddie McCoy, Aughclogeen, father of Sharon Mulqueen, Sylane.

May they rest in peace.

CONGRATS:

The club sends its congratulations to Kilkerrin-Clonberne on their recent fantastic win in the All-Ireland Ladies club final.
