AAL IRELAND FINAL:

Once again, the countdown to the All-Ireland Club Final is almost over, as we take on the Ulster Champions, Kilcoo of Down in Croke Park on Sunday at 4.00 pm.

Everyone in the parish sends their best wishes to the players and the management team as they put their final preparations in place for the final. We hope that all the hard work, dedication and commitment displayed by the entire panel will ensure that we bring the Andy Merrigan Cup to our parish for the fifth time in all and for the third year in a row.

We wish a safe journey to our many supporters travelling to the game.

Tickets for the game will not be on sale at Corofin pitch this year, but can be purchased in Raftery’s Centra, Corofin or in other selected Centra and Supervalu's.

Details of busses bringing supporters to the game can be found on our Facebook page.

In the run up to the game we are asking people around the parish to show their support for the lads by displaying flags and banners.   There is still time to purchase your hats and banners, with a new stock of youth hats and much more in both Canavan's Belclare and Raftery's Corofin.

The club shop will be open 7. 00 to 9.00 pm on Thursday and from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm on Saturday morning beside Raftery’s Pub in the village.

Otherwise contact John Raftery (087) 2585843.

To ensure all necessary resources are made available to our Senior Football squad’s preparation for their All Ireland Final appearance in Croke Park, we are holding a Fundraising Race Night at Galway Greyhound Track, which is scheduled for Saturday March 28th.

Tickets for the event cost €20 which includes Admission, Race Card and entry into a Draw for the following: First prize – €1000, Second prize – Weekend in Johnstown House; Third prize – 5 x €100.

Committee members are calling to houses in the parish with tickets.  We earnestly ask you to support us as we endeavour to make history in Croke Park on Sunday.

COROFIN LADIES:

The Corofin Ladies club are in urgent need of volunteers as they start the 2020 season. They cannot continue without a Chairperson to steer the Club for the coming year. They urgently need a volunteer for this role.  They also need managers for certain Club teams, including U8 and U12, for these teams to continue. Please give this some thought and contact Anne by email corofin.galway@lgfa.ie or phone 087 7747452 if you can help or have ideas on what can be done.

SYMPATHY:

We offer our sincere sympathy to Terry Payne, selector with our senior team, and to the Payne and Martyn families on the sudden death of Terry’s mother, Mary Payne (neé Martyn), Carheens, Belclare.

May she rest in peace.
