The Galway under 20 footballers were defeated by Dublin on a scoreline of 2-14 to 1-10 in the All-Ireland semi-final played in Pearse Park, Longford on Saturday evening.  Oran Burke, Ross Mahon, Tony Gill, Darragh Silke, Conor Newell and Gavin Burke all featured for Galway during the under 20 championship campaign.

There was better luck for the minor footballers who defeated Kildare by 2-17 to 0-15 in the All-Ireland quarter-final also played in Longford on Saturday evening.  Galway will play Kerry in the All-Ireland semi-final.  Dylan Brady is the sole club representative on the team.

LEAGUE GAMES:

Our seniors were defeated by Mountbellew-Moylough in the league division 1, played on Thursday evening in Corofin.  The final score was 1-10 to 4-9.

The team are scheduled to play An Spidéal in their final league game next Monday at 12.00 pm in An Spidéal.

As a result of Tuam’s win at the weekend, Tuam and Mountbellew-Moylough will contest the division 1 league final.

Our intermediate team lost to Headford in the league division 3 by 2-6 to 1-21 played in Headford on Sunday afternoon.

Our junior A team have completed all their games in division 5 (North) and have finished top of the table with six wins and a draw from their seven games played.  Well done lads.

Our under 15 team lost by one point to Oranmore-Maree in division 1 (North) played at home on Friday evening.  The final score was 6-11 to 5-15.

TOMORROW FOR TOMÁS:

The under 15/16 panel and management raised €1000 at a barbeque held on Sunday evening in aid of the Tomorrow for Tomás, Croker to Corofin Cycle taking place next weekend.  Well done to Tomás McLoughlin himself who came down to thank the lads and couldn’t resist putting them through their paces on the football field.  Kevin O’Brien needs to be looking over his shoulder!

The fundraising cycle from Croke Park to Corofin, a distance of over 200km, takes place on Sunday.  We wish all those taking part a safe trip.  Full details of the event can be found on the Facebook page – Tomorrow for Tomás.

LADIES:

Congratulations to Stephen Hession who managed the Galway under 16 ladies team to an All-Ireland A underage title for a third year in a row and to Emily O’Connor who doubled her collection of All Ireland winners medals.  Galway defeated Meath by 7-16 to 3-10 in the final played in Banagher last week.
