CLUB NOTES:

Our Seniors play Claregalway in our first game in group 1 of the senior championship in Tuam Stadium on Saturday evening at 5.30 pm.

The Galway senior team defeated Mayo in the Connacht Championship, quarter-final, on Sunday in Castlebar.  Well done on a great result, defeating Mayo for the third year in a row in the Connacht Championship.  Galway will play Sligo in the Connacht semi-final in Pearse Stadium on Sunday 3 June.

It was a good weekend for Galway teams with the under 17s defeating          Sligo on Friday evening, the Galway junior team defeated Mayo in the Connacht final, also played in Castlebar on Sunday and the Galway hurlers started the defence of their All-Ireland title with a good win over Offaly.

Well done to our Club players who featured in all four Galway wins at the weekend, a unique achievement for the Club.

Congrats to our minors who defeated Claregalway by 4-12 to 4-10 in the Minor A Football North League Shield Final, played on Monday. Well done lads.

There are two games in the Intermediate Football Championship scheduled for Corofin pitch on Saturday evening.  Athenry play Dunmore MacHales at 3.00 pm and Oughterard play St Brendan's at 4.45 pm.  Anyone who is available to help with stewarding should come to the pitch at 2.00 pm.

Our second junior team were defeated by Mountbellew-Moylough in the league division 5 (North) on Friday evening.

We defeated Oranmore-Maree in the under 13 league, division 1A by 4-3 to 2-6 in Oranmore also played last Friday.

We defeated Kilconly by 3-11 to 3-6, in the under 15 division 1 (North) league, played in Corofin last Tuesday.

Our under 16s played Dunmore MacHales in division 1 (north) in Corofin on Tuesday evening.

Well done to the Corofin U11's who topped their respective groups in the Kilmacud Crokes All-Ireland Tournament and then went on to win the finals on Sunday.  Superb Corofin style football was on display by both teams.  The future is bright with this group performing so well and they are super role models for the club and parish. Thanks to the parents for bringing the boys to training week in and week out and special thanks to Frank Morris for his ongoing guidance and coaching support.  Many thanks to the coaches who accompanied the teams to Dublin on Sunday.

The 2018 Raftery Cup competition commenced last Thursday evening.  The next round is on this Wednesday evening in Belclare, with the first match at 6.15pm.

Many thanks to Owen Durkan of the Men's Shed Tuam who presented a hand carved football to Corofin GAA Club to commemorate their win in the All-Ireland Club Football Final. The piece was made from wood that formed part of the roof of Boland's Mill during the 1916 Rising. Sincere thanks to the Men's Shed for this beautiful piece of work.  The item is on display in Raftery's Pub, Corofin.
