CLUB NOTES:

We will play Annaghdown in the County semi-final following our 4-13 to 2-8 win over Moycullen, and Annaghdown's 3-13 to 0-10 win over Naomh Anna, Leitir Móir.  Both games were played in Pearse Stadium on Sunday.  The second semi-final will feature Mountbellew-Moylough against Monoivea-Abbey.  It is likely that both games will be played on Sunday 24 September with Tuam Stadium the possible venue.  However, full details are yet to be confirmed.

Well done to our juniors who defeated Athenry by 6-11 to ‪2-7 in the Junior A Football Championship North played in Tuam Stadium on Friday evening.

Our under 16s played Killannin in County quarter-final on Tuesday evening in Corofin.

Our under 14s defeated Claregalway by 3-4 to 1-7 in the Division 1 game played in Corofin on Friday evening.

Our under 12s had a 1 point victory over Annaghdown in the Group 1 game, played on Sunday morning, by 3-4 to 2-6.

The Kevin Killeen under 10 tournament took place in Belclare on Saturday morning.  There was a great morning of football with Corofin winning the Kevin Killeen Cup and Shield.  Thanks to Annaghdown, Caherlistrane, Dunmore, Monivea Abbey and Tuam Stars for taking part in the tournament.  Thanks to our senior players for refereeing and to the parents for looking after the refreshments on the day.

LADIES FOOTBALL

There was heartbreak for Corofin Ladies as they lost out to Kilkerrin/Clonbern on a scoreline of 2-9 to 1-14 in the County Senior Final played in Monivea on Saturday.   Although defeated by two agonising points, the girls did the Club proud with a committed, high quality performance in the Final. The game was in the balance right until the end. Our scorers were Tracey Leonard 1-6, with a standout performance, Amy O'Donovan 1-1, Aoife Newell 0-1 and a beautiful point from Amy Coen (0-1). We must also mention the impressive and resilient defending that we did and some great saves from Dearbhla Gower, who was only eventually beaten by an Annette Clarke penalty goal. Thank you to all the players and team management for an exciting season that has seen us challenging again for the top County honours in both League and Championship finals.
