CLUB NOTES

Hard luck to the Galway minor footballers who lost out to Cavan by 0-11 to 1-11 in the All-Ireland quarter-final played in Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday.  Thanks to our Club players Oran Burke, Gavin Burke, Darragh Silke and Conor Newell for their efforts throughout the year.

Well done to Galway hurlers and especially Daithí Burke who produced another storming performance at full back as Galway hurlers defeated Tipperary in a thrilling  All-Ireland semi-final on Sunday in Croke Park.

Congrats to our Under 16s who had a great victory in the inaugural Bryan Cullen Invitational Tournament 2017 organised by Skerries Harps. We won our 3 group games, semifinal and defeated our hosts Skerries Harps in the final.

The Club would like to thank Skerries Harps for inviting us to play in the tournament. We played 5 x 30 minutes games altogether, so understandably there were a lot of tired bodies around the parish on Monday morning!

These young Corofin men represented themselves, their families and our Club with distinction on Sunday both on and off the field of play.

We produced 5 sublime performances to win all our games including the final.

Round 1 Corofin 3-9 Burren, Down 0-4.

Round 2 Corofin 4-2 Castleknock, Dublin 2-3.

Round 3 Corofin 2-8 St. Colmcilles, Bettystown, Meath 2-2.

Semi final Corofin 6-4 Ballinamore, Leitrim 0-7.

Final Corofin 4-9 Skerries Harps, Dublin 1-8.

Each person including the two injured lads must be extremely satisfied with this.

Well done to players and management and all who travelled to Skerries on Sunday.
