CLUB NOTES:

There are just a few days to go to our big fundraiser night, the “20K Drop”,  which takes place on Friday at 8.00 pm in the Claregalway Hotel.  Tickets can still be obtained from any committee member or on-line on our website corofingaa.ie.

It proved to be a great weekend for Galway footballers with the seniors , under 21s and minors all winning.  The Galway seniors had an excellent win over Down by 3-15 to 1-13.  Gary Sice and Michael Farragher started while Liam Silke, Micheál Lundy and Ronan Steede, all featured for Galway.  Ronan was making his senior inter-county debut for the county.  Galway now play Kildare in the last round of the league in Pearse Stadium on Sunday, knowing that a win or draw will guarantee them promotion to division one and a place in the division 2 final against Kildare.  The game will be part of a double header as Galway hurlers will play Waterford in the league quarter-final.

Galway minors defeated Mayo by 1-11 to 1-07 in the minor football league.

Galway under 21s advanced to the Connacht final, in which they play Sligo, following a 2-13 to 1-10 victory over Mayo.  Dylan McHugh, Kieran Molloy and Colin Brady all started for Galway.   We wish Dylan a speedy recovery ahead of next Saturday's Connacht final against Sligo.

Our seniors defeated Cortoon Shamrocks 3-16 to 1-6 in the John Dunne Cup game played on Friday.  The Corofin goals were scored by Jason Leonard (2) and Dylan Canney.  Corofin now top Group 4 having won all three game in the group.

Corofin play Monivea-Abbey in the Minor A Football League, North, at 6.45 pm on Monday next in Monivea.

The under 14s play Ballinasloe in division 1 (north) at 7.00 pm on Thursday evening.  On the same evening we also play Pádraig Pearses in the division 3 (north) at 7.00 pm.  Both games are home venue for Corofin.

The Club offers its sympathy to the family and friends of Danny Nestor, Ardskeamore who died on Friday. May he Rest in Peace.
