CLUB NOTES:

The All-Ireland semi-final between Corofin and Dr Crokes takes place at 4.00 pm in the  Gaelic Grounds Limerick on Saturday 11 February.

Congratulations to Ciarán McGrath who has been selected as Galway Sports Star Gaelic Footballer of the year and to Daithí Burke who has been honoured with a Special Achievement Award for his part in the Clubs County success and on winning his second Hurling All-Star Award.  The awards will be presented at a gala function to be held in the Galway Bay Hotel on Saturday night, February 4.

Ian Burke and Michael Farragher were presented with their ‘man of the match’ awards at a function hosted by the Connacht Council on Friday night.

Remember that Club membership is now due.  Membership can be paid to any member of the committee or on the Club website – www.corofingaa.ie.   Adult and youth membership forms can also be downloaded from the website.

At the underage AGM, which was held recently, Tom Greaney was elected underage Chairman, while Martin Collins continues in the role of underage Secretary.  The various underage team managers will be finalised shortly and details will be published on the Club website as soon as they become available.

Corofin underage registration morning has been fixed for Saturday February 4 at 10.00 am in Belclare.

We will be hosting two Schools of Excellence this year for players aged 8 to 13.  This is open to both boys and girls.  The first one takes place over the Easter break from school, on the 11th, 12 and 13th of April (3 days), while the second one will be on 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th of August (4 days).  Both camps will take place in Belclare.

The Club offers its sympathy to the family of the late John Comer, Kilcahill and to the Annaghdown GAA Club on his sad loss.  We also offer our sympathy to the family of the late Patricia Barry, Galway Rd., Tuam (who taught in Belclare and Annagh Hill National Schools).

May they rest in peace.

LADIES FOOTBALL:

JOB VACANCIES - TEAM WORKERS REQUIRED

We have lots of enthusiastic young footballers who want to play for our U12 and U14 teams BUT volunteers to help run these teams are in very short supply. Can you help? Do you know someone who can help?

We are looking for any parents, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, ex-players, current adult players, transition year students or anyone else willing to offer some help running two U12 and two U14 teams during 2017. We don't need a fully formed Stephen Rochford, just people who can give some time to girls football. It would be very disappointing if we cant offer football to all the young girls in the parish who wish to play. Please contact either Stephen Hession (0876033350) or David Gower (0862350004) if you can help manage or mentor or administer one of our teams.

Please Note

The prize amounts above are what each winner will receive.
