CLUB NOTES:

We send best wishes to our senior team and management as they take on Castlebar Mitchels in the Connacht Club Semi Final.  The game takes place on Sunday in MacHale Park, Castlebar with throw in at 2.00 pm.  Your support, as we renew rivalry with Castlebar, will be much appreciated and is always a great help to the team.

Congratulations to Daithí Burke, who received his second hurling all-star award in a row at the 2016 GAA/GPA Opel All-Stars Awards in the Convention Centre in Dublin on Friday.

Congrats to our Junior A team who won the Division 6 (North) League final defeating Dunmore MacHales by 1-10 to 0-6.   Seán Silke scored the goal.   Connor McNamara, who also had the honour of getting the man-of-the-match award, captained the team.  The team also featured Trevor Burke and David Morris who added to their considerable medal collection.  Well done lads on a great end to the year.

Our under 12's rounded off a great year by collecting their fifth trophy of the season when they won their own James Collins Memorial Tournament on Sunday.  James was a true stalwart of Corofin GAA club and he spearheaded the development of training facilities and a professional approach to training in the nineties.  His "magic bottle" cured many aches and strains and he'd have been proud to see the young lads from Moycullen, Clarinbridge, Dunmore and his own Corofin showing great skill, determination and respect for each other and the game on a beautiful sunny autumn day.  James’ son Michael presented the trophy to Corofin's captain Robbie Winston.  Well done to all players and mentors on a great year.

The club offers its sympathy to Dylan Canney on the death of his father, Kevin Geoghegan and to the Geoghegan family Lavally, Tuam.  May he rest in peace.
