CLUB NOTES:
Well done to our seniors who had an excellent win over Tuam Stars in the quarter-final of the Senior Football Championship played in Tuam Stadium on Sunday evening. Despite playing against a strong wind in the first half, Corofin trailed by one point on a scoreline of 1-3 to 7 points with the goal coming from Gary Sice. Corofin dominated the second half and Liam Silke netted from the penalty spot with a well-taken goal to leave the final score Corofin 2-10 to Tuam Stars 0-9.
Our intermediate team will play St Brendan’s in the intermediate football relegation play off following St. Brendan’s loss to Ballinasloe on Saturday.
Our under 15s continued their good run in the league with a fantastic win over Glenamaddy-Glinsk on Sunday by 4-13 to 1-7. The team’s next game is against Caherlistrane in Corofin on Sunday at 1.30 pm.
The under 12 teams both had victories over Mountbellew-Moylough in the league, Group 1 and Group 3, on Sunday. The teams’ next games are against Caherlistrane on Sunday in Caherlistrane, with team 1 playing at 11.00 and team 2 at 12.00.
Under 9 training has finished on Mondays for 2016. However, Saturday training will continue until the weather beats us!
The Club sends it’s best wishes to our former manager, Stephen Rochford, as he manages Mayo who take on Dublin in the All-Ireland football final on Sunday.
Best wishes also to the Galway minors playing Kerry in the minor decider.
The Club offers its sympathy to the family and friends of Noreen Egan, Rusheens, who died during the week. May she rest in peace.
