CLUB NOTES:
Best of luck to our seniors who take on Tuam Stars in the quarter-final of the Senior Football Championship in Tuam Stadium at 5.15 pm on Sunday. We need all possible support for the team in this game. The game is preceded by the clash of Mountbellew-Moylough and Milltown at 3.30 pm.
Our other three adult teams were in action at the weekend but unfortunately all suffered defeat.
In the intermediate football relegation game we lost out to Clifden by 1-10 to 2-11. We now await the losers of St Brendan's and Ballinasloe, who play in Tuam Stadium next Saturday.
In the Junior Championship (North), we were defeated by Mountbellew-Moylough on a scoreline of Corofin 1-6 to Mountbellew-Moylough 1-17.
Our second junior team (and the Club’s 4th adult team) suffered a comprehensive defeat at the hands of Glenamaddy in the Junior C Championship (North). Hard luck to all three teams.
The intermediates play Glenamaddy, in Glenamaddy, in the league (Division 3) at 3.00 pm on Saturday.
We congratulate Daithí Burke on his selection on the Sunday Game hurling team of the year.
Congrats to our under 15s who had a second win in the league (division 1A) defeating St Gabriel's 4-13 to 4-8. Their next game is against Glenamaddy-Glinsk at 1.30 pm in Glenamaddy on Sunday.
In the under 12 football league (Group 1) we drew with Monivea-Abbey on a scoreline of Corofin 2-9 to Monivea-Abbey 3-6. The team’s next game is against Mountbellew-Moylough at 11.00 am on Sunday in Corofin.
The under 12s (team 2) also play Mountbellew-Moylough in the league (Group 3) at 12.00 am in Corofin on Sunday.
We had a very successful Kevin Killeen, under 10 tournament in Belclare on Saturday. Three teams finished on equal points in the cup competition, namely Annaghdown, Tuam Stars and Corofin. Annaghdown were declared winners as they had the better scoring record. Corofin won the plate competition. Thanks also to Dunmore, Monivea-Abbey and Caherlistrane who played in the competition. Well done to all the children who took part in the tournament. You did us all proud. A big thank you to all the parents who helped to serve refreshments and made sure everyone was looked after and all the parents that stayed to support the teams. Thanks to the referees Brian Raftery, Conor Cunningham, Dylan Canney, Dylan McHugh, Martin Farragher and the senior referee Aidan Donnellan. Finally sincere thanks to the Killeen Family for sponsoring the cup and shield.
The Declan Kerins under 10 tournament takes place in Tuam on Saturday. Players are to meet in Tuam Stars pitch at 9.15. Remember that Gumsheilds are essential.
The CCDA organised Harvest Festival takes place in Corofin on Saturday and Sunday. Your support is appreciated.
