MENS NOTES:

Congratulations to the Galway minor footballers who captured the Connacht title with a convincing win over Sligo by 4-12 to 1-8.  Well done to Dylan McHugh and Ciarán Brady, who also picked up the ‘man-of-the-match’ award.  Galway advance to play Tipperary in the All-Ireland quarter final this weekend.

Best of luck to our Club players and selector Brian Silke and the Galway senior team who take on Donegal in the next round of the qualifiers on Saturday evening at 6.00 pm in Croke Park.

Our seniors play Mountbellew-Moylough in the final of the Connacht GAA Senior Club League (Leo Kenny Cup) in Tuam Stadium at 7.30 pm this Wednesday evening.   Corofin defeated Elphin by 3-10 to 0-12 in the semi-final.

Our seniors continued their good run in division 1 of the league with a two-point victory over Annaghdown on Sunday evening by 1-11 to 0-12.  The Corofin goal was scored by Mike Farragher.

Our juniors lost out to Caherlistrane in the North Board Championship on Sunday.

Congratulations to our under 16 team who captured the under 16A County league title last Tuesday evening with an exciting win over Claregalway on a scoreline of Corofin 0-10 to Claregalway 1-6.  Well done to the team and mentors on this win following a great game of football.

On the hurling front we had an involvement with both the Galway minors and seniors at the weekend.  Jack Fitzpatrick, who played underage football with Corofin, was full back on the minor team that defeated Limerick.  Daithí Burke continued his good form in the senior’s excellent over Cork.

The Club offers its sincere sympathy to the Fahy family, Kilcurriff, on the sad loss of Joe Fahy, RIP.

LADIES FOOTBALL:

Best wishes to the Corofin Ladies club players Orla Canney, Leanne Coen, Amy Coen, Emily Donnelly and Amy O'Donovan, as well as Team Selector Stephen Hession, who are part of the Galway Ladies U16 team playing Kerry in the All Ireland Final in Bruff, Co Limerick on the evening of Wednesday 29th July, throw in 7pm.

We also want to wish all the best to Corofin Ladies players Chelsey Blade and Dearbhla Gower who play for Galway Ladies Minors in the All Ireland Final versus Cork in Semple Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday 3rd August, throw in 5.30pm.

Galway Ladies are having a brilliant year, already winning a clean sweep of Connacht titles - u14, u16, Minor and Senior - in 2015 so far. They also run all the underage game development training and blitzes in the County, as well as all the competitions Corofin Ladies teams, from u8 to Seniors, play in. To fundraise to keep all this successful ladies football activity going they are holding a Night at the Dogs fundraiser at Galway Greyhound Stadium on Friday 21st August. Tickets are available for €20 each from David Gower.  The ticket gives entry on the night and if the ticket number matches the final result of the feature race on the night the ticket holder wins €1000.

The prize amounts above are what each winner will receive.
