Annaghdown under 16 hurlers began their championship campaign on Saturday last with a victory over Ardrahan by 5-6 to 1-3. Annaghdown played with wind advantage in the opening half and built up a good half time lead before defending well in the second half. Annaghdown had goal scorers in Diarmuid Kilcommins, Ciaran Potter, Cian O’Toole Jason Kenny and Joey Maguire. Their points came via Jason Walsh, Ciaran Potter, Diarmuid Conway and Diarmuid Kilcommins. They play Oranmore-Maree in their second group game in Oranmore on Saturday 14th March at 1.30pm.



The under 14 hurling championship commences this weekend with Annaghdown playing Ballindereen in Cregg on Saturday 7th March with the game throwing in at 1.30pm.



Annaghdown recorded their second victory in the Tain Connacht League when beating Tourlestrane from Sligo last weekend. Intermediate and junior hurling training continues on Wednesday at 8pm. The intermediate team have been drawn in Group “B” on the intermediate championship and will commence their championship in early May with a game against Rahoon-Newcastle followed by games against Kilbeacanty, Meelick-Eyrecourt, Ballindereen, Oranmore-Maree and Kilconieron in that order. The junior “C” team are in a group including Carnmore, Ahascragh-Fohenagh, Ballindereen, Liam Mellows, Clarinbridge, Kinvara, Kilnadeema-Leitrim, Sarsfields and Ardrahan. They will commence their championship with a home game against Kilnadeema-Leitrim.



Congratulations to the Presentation College Headford who defeated Roscommon CBS by 2-15 to 2-11 to win the Connacht Post Primary School’s Junior “C” hurling final last week. The majority of the team are from Annaghdown with no less than thirteen of their starting side as well as a number of their subs playing club hurling with Annaghdown. Well done to all concerned. The Annaghdown players involved were: Eoin Reddington, Eoin Morris, Jason Walsh, Conor Quinn, Cian Maloney, Ciaran Potter, Diarmuid Conway, Cian O’Toole, Noel O’Halloran, Nigel Kerr, Joey Maguire, Damien Curry, Liam Murphy, Jason Kenny, Griffin Chalfa, Gary Greaney and Dara McDonagh



We play Ballinasloe in the U-21 hurling championship at 3.00 in Ballinasloe on Saturday
