Lotto numbers: 4,13,24,26, no winners, Promoters prize Hennelly’s Corrandulla and next jackpot is €12.250. Our junior hurlers completed a clean sweep of junior titles in Loughrea on Sunday when they beat An Spideal in the ‘A’ County final and as a result will compete in next year’s Intermediate championship; the win coupled earlier victories in the County and Connacht junior finals and the Connacht Tain league to make it a very successful year for the club. Niall Kinneen opened the scoring with a point in the first minute but points from Fergal Ó Mainin and Cillin Ó hEochaidh had An Spideal in front for the only time in the game after nine minutes. Jonathan and Damien Comer then replied with a point each to put Annaghdown in front after seventeen minutes. Ó Cuanaigh pulled one back for the losers before Fergal O’Doherty found Matthias Coleman who shot to the net with four minutes to the break to give his side a three point lead at the break 1-3 to 0-3. Jonathan Comer and Adrian Murphy increased Annaghdown’s early in the second half but a brilliant Ronan Newell hook on Fiontán Ó Cuanaigh saved a certain goal for Spiddal but points followed from Ó Cuanaigh and Ó Mainin to make it a three point game. Jonathan Comer and Fergal Ó Mainin then exchanged points and with ten minutes to go the Maroon and White lead by 1-6 to 0-6, Damien Comer and Adrian Murphy shot our last two points of the game as Cooney replied for Spiddal to leave Annaghdown winners on a final score of 1-8 to 0-7 Our Adult A.G.M was held in the Clubhouse and was a well-attended meeting. Gerry Coen read out an account of last year’s AGM and then proceeded to give a detailed Secretary’s report on the activities for 2014. He paid tribute to past and present Club members and Officers for the excellent facility we now have. Gerry also congratulated all our teams that got to and won finals in both hurling and football during the year. The report also mentioned the work of the development team led by Pat O’Keeffe and thanked them for their great work over the year. Treasurer Collette Walsh gave a detailed comprehensive financial report; all the major expenses were broken down in detail. Willie Kavanagh in his Chairman’s address informed the meeting that he was stepping down from the position this year. Willie paid special mention to the Lotto committee for their dedication over the past year. He also thanked all the managers and selectors of all teams and congratulated those teams that won final’s , saying we had a great year with our Hurlers winning the Tain League , County Junior and Connacht Final and now go forward to the All-Ireland series next year. On the Football front Willie congratulated the Junior Team that won the North Board Final, the Minor Team that won the North and County finals and to the Junior A team who lost the North League Final. It was also outlined the importance for all managers to get reports on matches to the P.R.O.
