The Adult A.G.M was on last Wednesday December 3rd in the Clubhouse at 8.00 and there will be a Memorial Mass for all deceased members of the club in the Clubhouse on Friday December 5th at 8.00pm.
Annaghdown had a tough battle with Corofin in the Div 1 League final played in Headford on Sunday and even after extra time the sides could not be separated, and will have to do it all again in the replay. Corofin were first off the mark with two early Gary Sice points before Frankie Burke replied with a brace for Annaghdown to tie the scores but points from Alan O’Donovan, Daithi and Ian Burke gave the county champions a three point lead at the break 0-5 to 0-2. Brendan Dooley opened the second half scoring but two points from Sice and one from Ian Burke saw Corofin lead by five points with twelve minutes to go. Damien Comer fielded a ball on left side of David Morris’s goal and his diagonal shot gave the Corofin keeper no chance for the first goal of the game and when Frankie Burke popped over a point to make it 1-4 to 0-8 and everything to play for.
Comer out fielded two Corofin defenders and was dragged down in the square, Frankie Burke’s resulting penalty was blocked out by Morris but Burke slotted the rebound to the net to give Annaghdown a 2-4 to 0-8 lead with three minutes remaining. Martin Farragher made it a one point game before a Michael Lundy goal bond shot was saved by T J Forde at the expense of a 45. Alan O’Donovan came off the bench and his shot went over the bar to send the game into extra time on a score line of 2-4 to 0-10.
The first period saw Mathias Coleman and Damien Comer score a brace for Annaghdown with Gary Sice on the mark for Corofin as Annaghdown held a slender on point lead at the break, the second half saw Corofin score four points without reply from Sice 0-2 and one each from Michael and Martin Farragher to lead by 0-15 to 2-6 as the game entered the closing stages, Annaghdown were then awarded a 20 metre free Corofin lined the goal but Damien Comer’s shot found the back of the net to send the game to a replay.
