Our Junior team had a hard earned victory over Claregalway in the North GPC Championship at Tuam Stadium on Sunday, trailing at the break by a point 0-6 to 1-4 after playing with aid the breeze we out scored the losers by six points to two in the second half. Martin Scully opened the scoring with a point after two minutes with P.J.Fahy adding another minute later but Claregalway hit back scoring 1-1 before James Healy landed a point from a 45 to leave us a trailing by a point 0-3 to 1-1.

Each side shot three points each in the remainder of the half with Keith Greaney shooting our scores as we went in one point behind at the break, Claregalway got the opening point of the second half but we shot four unanswered points from Greaney 0-2 and one each from Daniel Dennigan and Diarmuid Newell to give us a two point lead 0-10 to 1-5 as we entered the final ten minutes, Claregalway  then cut the lead to a point and the game was there for the taking but the losers shot three bad wides, sub Pa Burke eased Annaghdown’s nerves when he pointed and Matthew Duggan sealed the win with the  final score of the game to give us a 0-12 to 1-6 victory and we play St Gabriels in the next round in Menlough at 4.00 on Saturday.

We beat Headford in the North Minor ‘B’  championship quarter-final played in Tuam Stadium on Friday evening, the team was; S Potter, C Small, S Burke, J Curry, P Glynn (0-1), M Naughton, T Griffin, E Callanan, M Devaney (0-2), C Maloney (0-5), R Forde (0-3), A Quirke (0-1), E Curry (0-4), N Fallon (4-0), P McLoughlin. Subs: P Flaherty (0-1), P Lynch, D Groake, D J Whelan.

In the John Dunne Cup we had a three point victory over Caherlistrane 1-14 to 1-11 and we play Menlough on Saturday away in the Div 1 ‘A’ league at 6.00. Our Junior ‘A’ football team play Athenry in the championship in Corofin at 7.00 on Friday evening.

In the hurling championship we beat Turloughmore in the junior ‘A’ by 2-5 to 0-8 and lost to Tynagh-Abbey-Duniry by a point 1-15 to 2-13 in the junior ‘C’ championship.
