Annaghdown capped off a great weekend of football at the National Feile in the Centre of Excellence, Ballyhaunis on Sunday last when reaching the Division 2 Shield semi final where they were gallant losers to Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath.  In a game that Annaghdown could so easily have won they lost out by a single goal on a score line of Dunshaughlin 2-3 Annaghdown 1-3. Annaghdown were slow to start and were behind 1-2 to 0-1 at half time.  Annaghdown started much brighter in the second half.  Sean Mitchell calmly slotted a penalty and this was quickly followed by a Sean Dennigan point to leave Annaghdown leading by 1-3 to 1-2 with 2 minutes left. Dunshaughlin however converted a free to equalise and as time ran out an intercepted pass saw them score the crucial goal.  In what was a wonderful weekend of football Annaghdown lined out for 7 games in total. The group stages saw wins over Moycullen, Galbally of Limerick, and a defeat to eventual cup semi finalists Moycarkey Borris. Annaghdown progressed to play Mayo Gaels in the quarter final of the shield on Saturday evening in Ballyhaunis. The old addage of goals win games proved to be true as Annaghdown notched up 4-4 to Mayo Gaels 0-7 to progress to the semi finals where they met Dunshuaghlin.  The full panel was: Shane McLoughlin, Ethan Kilcoyne, Alan Cunningham, Killian Naughton, David Tunney (Captain), Gavin Burke, Luke Thornton, Damian Curry, Dara Hegarty, Sean Mitchell, Sean Dennigan (Vice captain), Adam Reilly, Adam Egan, Diarmuid Kilcommins, Dara O'Sullivan, Adam Heneghan, Robbie Barret, James McCarthy, Jonathon Hickey, Ciarán Harkin, Christopher O'Flynn, Jack McNicholas, Paul Shaughnessy and Killian Goaley.
