Annaghdown 0-17 Menlo Emmett’s 0-11
Annaghdown got their Junior A Championship campaign off to a winning start with a six point victory over neighbours Menlo Emmets at Carnmore on Sunday evening. The men in maroon led all through and with first half points from Alan Newell, Eamon Coffey and Jonathan Comer with five, four from the placed ball, the victors led 0-7 to 0-5 at the interval. Comer added two in the second period from play and a free with centre forward Niall O Keeffe scoring two from play but it was the man of the match Shane Collier with four brilliant efforts from play that ensured the spoils went to Annaghdown. Apart from those mentioned already Cathal Og Coen was steady in goal while Martin O Neill and Ronan Creaven gave great cover in front of him. Paul Lynch back after a year out due to cruciate injury impressed while Andrew Goulding and John King were also prominent.
