Our Minor footballers won the North B1 league shield last Sunday beating Dunmore McHales by 0-15 to 1-7, we lead at the break by two points 0-6 to 0-4. Our first half points came from Pierce Glynn, Michael Devaney, Peter Lynch, Patrick McLoughlin, Daragh Fahy and Ryan Forde, it was a close first half but outstanding displays from Michael Naughton, Forde and Devaney in the middle and Fahy up front helped us to a two point advantage at the break. The second half saw Dunmore McHales up their performance and it was anybody’s game with ten minutes to go but Annaghdown finished strong sealing a well merited win, with Ryan Forde earning the Man of the Match award. Padraic Kelly North secretary presented the shield to captain Michael Devaney. Our points came from: Daragh Fahy 0-5, Ryan Forde 0-2. Adam Quirke 0-1, Conor Maloney 0-1. The team was: S Potter, J Curry, S Burke, A Hardiman, P Glynn, M Naughton, P Lynch ,R Forde, M Devaney, E Callanan, E Curry, C Maloney, P McLoughlin, N Fallon, D Fahy: Subs used I Hand, C Small, A Quirke.
Ladies Football.
Congratulations to club player Nikki Burke, the Galway Senior Ladies Panel and their management team on winning the Division 2 League Final against Westmeath on Saturday last in Parnell Park, Dublin. Wishing Nikki and all involved continued success as they now prepare for their championship.
Well done to all who took part in the Ready Steady Coach programme held in the club house last week, with special thanks to both Noelle Gormally (Connacht Ladies Development officer) and Maura Conneally (Galway Ladies Development Officer) who delivered the programme.
