Annaghdown qualified for the final of the Connacht Tain hurling Div 2 final with a hard earned one point victory over Salthill in Castlegar on Easter Monday, a late Con Butler pointed free sealed the victory. Annaghdown started slowly and found themselves conceding seven first half points before Butler found the range with opening point. The second half saw Salthill start the better scoring two early points but points from Comer 0-2 and Butler kept Annaghdown in touch and them we had three goals inside five minutes two for Annaghdown from Eoin Pierce and Niall Kinneen to leave Salthill leading by 1-16 to 3-8 but late points from Comer 0-2 and Con Butler’s winning point gave us victory by 3-11 to 1-16, the final is on Saturday against Westport at the Connacht Centre at 2.00. Our team was: C Og Coen, A Golden, R Creaven, M O’Neill, J King, S Collier, T Burke, C Butler, B Creaven, A Newell, C Burke, A Murphy, E Pierce, N Kinneen, J Comer.

We played three football  league games over the weekend starting with a win over Corofin 4-16 to 2-6 in the North Div8 played on Friday evening and we played two games in Cregg on Saturday starting with the Div 1 against Caherlistrane which we won by four points. Joey Farragher had the opening score of the game after four minutes when he scored a goal followed by a Frankie Burke point two minutes later, Caherlistrane opened the account with a point on ten minutes only for Frankie Burke to score our second goal a minute later. It was 2-4 to 0-5 at the interval . Ger Raftery and Oisin O’Brien exchanged points early in the second half and when Caherlistrane added another it was a four point ball game with fifteen minutes to go. Frankie Burke and Ger Raftery extended our lead and when Niall Coleman landed the final score we had collected our first brace of points in the league on a final score of 2-8 to 0-10. Our team was: T J Forde, E Kerin, A Pender, J Creaven, E Mullarkey, S Collier, J Farragher, N Coleman, K Duggan, M O’Neill, G Raftery, J Farragher, A Burke, B Dooley and F Burke. Subs: M Coleman for M O’Neill, N Kinneen for J Farragher, J Healy for T J Forde.   We lost to Athenry in the Div 4 game by 0-8 to 1-14 we were trailing at the break by 0-7 to 0-4 and our team was; J Healy, J Kerin, P Burke, S Burke, E Pierce, J Creaven, C Og Coen, S Moylan, M Scully, K Moylan, M Duggan, T Burke, K Greaney, P J Fahy, C Greaney.



We play Mountbellew –Moylough in the John Dunne Cup on Thursday evening away at 7.00.
