The club wish to offer its sincere sympathy to the Lardner family Tonegurrane on the sudden death of Joe, when the heart breaking news broke last Wednesday it send shockwaves through the parish and indeed the county, Joe was a top class footballer winning All-Ireland finals with Galway in 1970 (Minor)and in 1972 (Under-21). He also won an All-Ireland Inter Firm medal with Corbett’s and a Connacht Junior title with Galway.
Joe also gave great service to the Club having player in all grades from juvenile to adult and in 1970 he scored seven points as Annaghdown beat Cortoon by 3-12 to 1-4 to capture North junior final after twelve years of waiting and later that year the club also won the county final and once again Joe showed his class.
He is survived by his sisters, Rita, Bridie and Mary and brothers, Paddy, John A, Mike, Tom and extended family, neighbours and friends.
There is a club meeting on Tuesday June 21st in the Club House at 9.00 p.m and all are welcome
