Well done to Derek Joyce Kilcahill who completed the An Post Ras 8 day international cycle race around Ireland last week.

We are now in the relegation zone of the senior football championship as a result of our 3-12 to 1-15 defeat by Caherlistrane in Tuam Stadium on Sunday evening, at the break the winners lead by nine points but a second half fight back saw us take the lead in the closing stages by 1-14 to 2-10 but we were unable to extend the lead as Caherlistrane out scored us by 1-2 to 0-1 in added time.

We conceded three early points in the opening minutes from placed balls all converted by Cormac Bane but a brace of points from play by Damien Comer made it a one point game after ten minutes, in the next eight minutes we could add one more point from Keith Greaney to our tally as Caherlistrane registered four, a brace of points from Greaney and Ciarian Duggan completed our first half scoring of five points as we trailed by 0-8 to 0-5 entering added time, two goals in as many minutes for the winners put them in to a nine point lead at the break .

Eoin Curry converted a 45 for the first score in part two and when the same player added another followed by two from Greaney we not trailed by 2-9 to 0-9 with Bane adding one for the winners and we not hit a purple patch out scoring Caherlistrane by 1-5 to 0-1 with scores from Curry 1-0 and points from Greaney 0-2 , and one each from Niall Kinneen, Duggan and Comer to go into the lead for the only time in the game but a late Caherlistrane rally saw then win by three to stay in contention in the championship.
