We played Rahoon-Newcastle in the opening round of the Intermediate hurling championship at Pearse Stadium on Sunday evening and after having lead for fifty five minutes we were caught in late scoring bust that yielded the city side 1-1 in added time to run out winners by 1-16 to 1-12. A Niall Kinneen goal after only two minutes gave us the start we needed  half, and we  went in at the break leading by  1-5 to 0-6, our points came from Shane Collier 0-2, Kinneen 0-2 and Jonathan Comer added the other.

In part two we continued to add to our lead with Kinneen scoring from four placed balls to increase our lead to 1-9 to 0-7 after seven second half minutes with Eoin Kennedy on the mark on Rahoon-Newcastle. Kennedy and Kinneen then exchanged points. Each side then scored a brace of points with Tony Og Regan and Kennedy pointing for the winners and Kinneen replied for Annaghdown from placed balls, it was now a five point game with the Maroon and White outfit leading by 1-12 to 0-10 and six minutes remaining. Rahoon-Newcastle now upped their performance to score 1-6 without replay in the final run in, with the goal coming from Enda Rice a minute into added time to deny Annaghdown a victory that looked likely for most of the game.
