We were beaten by Tuam Stars on Sunday in the U-21 championship by 1-9 to 0-7, the game was played in windy and misty conditions and was marred by the number of stoppages and we played against the elements in the opening half and trailed by three points at the break 0-6 to 0-3.
Adam Quirke had our first score of the game after 10 minutes but three minutes later it was all square when Cormac McWalter pointed for the Stars, Conor Maloney and McWalter then exchanged points before Brendan Greaney put us in front for the last time in the game with six minutes to the break. The winners then shot four points without reply from McWalter, Thomas Murphy and a brace from Mickey Mannion to go in at the break leading by three points.
In part two James Healy pointed a sideline free after two minutes but a brace from McWalter and Joe Lowry kept Tuam ticking over, Darragh Fahy and Adam Quirke kicked a point each to leave us trailing by two with seven minutes to go 0-8 to 0-6. That was as good as it got as McWalter shot the only goal of the game two minutes later to seal the Tuam Stars win. Both sides exchanged points in the added time with McWalter and Healy raising white flags.
