We lost to Tuam Stars in the Div 1 league on Saturday by 0-9 to 1-11, at the half time we trailed by one point 0-6 to 1-4, we have three remaining games left against Killannin, Salthill-Knocknacarra and Mountbellew –Moylough. The team against Tuam was: J Healy, J Creaven, A Pender, F O’Doherty, M O’Neill, J Farragher, A Burke, C Duggan, D Newell, S Collier, E Mullarkey, C Greaney, K McGrath, N Kinneen, F Burke. Subs: B Dooley, J Comer, M Naughton, M Scully.
Our Minor team had a five win over Corofin on Friday evening last in Corofin and will now meet Mountbellew-Moylough in round 2 in Cregg on Thursday evening at 7.00 (Please support). despite trailing at the break by two points an early second half goal from Pete Lynch levelled the game and it was the foundation for the victory..
Adam Quirke opened our scoring with a point in the opening minute but two minutes later Corofin were awarded a penalty which was duly dispatched to the net, both sides exchanged points before Corofin raised another green flag , followed by another point and the now led by 2-2 to 0-2 after ten minutes. Eoin Curry then shot a brace of points followed by a point each from Cathal Maloney, Jason Walsh and Cian Garrett to leave is trailing by 2-3 to 0-7 at the half time whistle.
Corofin increased the lead to three with the opening point of part two, but the afore mentioned Lynch goal had the sides tied 1-7 to 2-4, Corofin regained the lead again on six minutes but two points in a row from Lynch gave Annaghdown a lead they retained to the finish, two points from Dara Fahy and Lynch raised another white flag before Fahy bagged Annaghdown’s second major in what was an entertaining game with the corrib siders advancing to round two on a final score of 2-12 to 2-7.
