We beat Ml Breathnach in the senior championship round 3 in Pearse Stadium on Saturday evening by 4 points, Ml Breathnach had the benefit of the breeze in the opening half and went in at the break two points in front 0-6 to 0-4, Peadar  Og Ó Griofa got them off to winning start with two points in the opening six minutes, Frankie Burke got Annaghdown of the mark with a point six minutes later. Damien Comer and O’Griofa exchanged points before Kevin McGrath had the side’s level with ten minutes to the break. In that final ten minutes Ml Breathnach outscored Annaghdown by three points to one with Frankie Burke pointing a free for Annaghdown. Annaghdown now had the advantage of the breeze for part two but it was Ml Breathnach who were first to score as O’Griofa increased their advantage to three points after eight minutes, but as it turned out it was their last score of the game as Annaghdown shot seven points without reply from Damien Comer 0-3 and one each from Brendan Dooley, Noel Kinneen, Fergal O’Doherty and Cathal Coen to quality for a quarter final game against Mountbellew-Moylough on a final score of 0-11 to 0-7.  Team: T.J.Forde, J Creaven, M O’Neill, C Coen, F O’Doherty, D Newell, E Mullarkey, C Duggan, J Farragher, A Pender, G Raftery, B Dooley, K McGrath, D Comer, F Burke. Subs; S Collier, N Kinneen, A Burke

At Tuam Stadium on Friday evening our junior ‘A’ team defeated Athenry in the first round of the championship, we trailed at the break by four points 1-2 to 1-6 as Athenry were on top in most positions and were first on the score board with points from Paddy Quinn and Shane Fahy but a Stephen Potter goal brought us back in the game, both sides exchanged a brace of points  before Athenry  raised a green flag when Noel Coffey goaled  and they added two more points before the break to in four up.  P.J.Fahy and Tom Forde scored our two first half points. We still found the going tough in the opening quarter of the second half despite scoring six points from  Fahy 0-4 and one each from Conor Maloney and sub Pete Lynch but Athenry hit 1-2 in the same period to lead by one three points 2-8 to 1-8. We eventually got back in front when P.J. Fahy scored out second goal with Lynch adding a point to give us a 2-9 to 2-8. We extended the lead with points from Tomas Murphy and sub Patrick McLoughlin and when Ryan Forde scored our third goal it was all over and we had won a game that at times seemed highly unlikely, the second half subs played a major part in the victory.  The team was: D Groake, C Small, S Burke, D Kerr, P Glynn, P Burke, T Griffin, M Devaney, T Forde, C Maloney, T Murphy, S Potter, S Curry, P Fahy and D Fahy. Subs N Kerr, P Lynch, R Forde, L Joyce.
