Annaghdown GAA
Annaghdown is a parish situated on the Eastern shores of Lough Corrib in County Galway, approximately 8 miles from Galway City, 7 miles from Tuam and 5 miles from the town of Headford. It is a very rural community with approx 750 members and like most rural areas there is a strong community spirit which culminates in the GAA club. The club itself is the major outlet for most social activities in the locality and hence plays a pivotal role in the Annaghdown community. Due to this pivotal role, it has grown to be a club of great tradition within County Galway. Many of our members have represented the county at all levels, in a playing, management and administrative capacity.
With five senior football championships victories, the most recent won in 2001, Annaghdown are always competitive in the Galway football championship. Having won the 2002 county Junior A hurling championship our hurlers play in the intermediate grade in which they have reached the knockout stages each year since.
