     Tinryland G.F.C. club notes 26th September 2022

It was another very busy week with Tinryland teams at adult and juvenile level involved in the knockout stages of their respective championships.

Pride of place must go to our senior team who qualified for their first Co. Final in eleven years with a brilliant tactical performance in the 2nd half against Mount Leinster Rangers. Down 3 points at half time Tinryland introduced Paul Broderick, John Murphy and Cian Lawlor for the 2nd half and quickly eating into the Rangers lead went on to comfortably win on a scoreline of 2-5 to 0-6. We will now face our neighbours Palatine in a mouth-watering Co. final at Netwatch Cullen Park on Sunday next.

Outstanding for Tinryland on Sunday were goalkeeper Cathal Gaffney and the entire defence together with subs Paul Broderick, Danny Moran, Paddy, Regan, John Murphy and Jonah Dunne.

In the Talbot Hotel Junior (A) championship semi-final Tinryland faced red hot championship favourites Clonmore who had held the men in blue and white scoreless in the league stages. It was a totally different game on Thursday last as Tinryland put up a much better performance and were very much in contention going into the second half. Two goals from Cian Nicholl in either half put it up to the men from Hacketstown and only for a couple of defensive errors and a sending off Tinryland could have produced the shock of the year in Carlow losing by 3-8 to 2-6 in the end.

At underage level our U17 team defeated Grange by 3-8 to 2-7 in the Cental division 2A semi-final and will now play St. Patricks in the final at Netwatch Cullen park on Monday next 3rd October at 6.30 p.m. Our U15 team has also reached a final and will play Michael Davits in the Cental Division 2A final on Thursday 6th October with a 6.30 p.m. throw in at Netwatch Cullen Park.

The club lotto jackpot now stands at €2800 and can be played via the Tinryland G.F.C. clubforce app or by purchasing a ticket for the Monday night draw from any committee member.
