Railyard v Tinryland Match report

S.F.L. Division 2

Tinryland 4-7                       Railyard 0-10

Tinryland made a rare visit to Moneenroe to take on Railyard in the S.F.L. division 2 on Sunday evening and they came away with full points after a very good hour of football.

In a low scoring 1st half a superb Glen Doyle goal in the 20th minute was the score that separated the teams at half time.

Tinryland raced into an early lead and were 3 points up after 7 minutes courtesy of Evan Doyle, and a brace from his younger brother Glenn. The Kilkenny side got on the scoresheet when full forward Caleb Roche converted 2 frees just before the 1st water break.

When play resumed the Carlow side who will contest the 2020 J.F.C. (A) final in July added a further point from Alan Barrett while Railyard remained in contact with further points from Brian Cahill and Ciaran Cooney. Half Time score Tinryland 1-4 Railyard 0-4.

Tinryland made a great start to the 2nd half when Alan Barrett rattled the Railyard net following great play by Brian McGrath, Ciaran Larkin and Evan Doyle. This score was immediately followed by an Evan Doyle goal after the veteran forward received a pin -point pass from team captain Padraic Whelan.

By the 2nd water break Tinryland were 6 points ahead and their backroom team then introduced experienced players Gregg Murphy and Paul Doyle who helped maintain the momentum.

The home side never stopped trying and they added a further 4 points in the final quarter but Tinryland wrapped up the points with a well worked Padraic Whelan goal after great play by Cathal O’Toole,  Adam Dunne, Alan Barrett and Paul Doyle.
