Askea 3-11 Tinryland 0-12
Tinryland’s 3rd fifteen did very well in the opening game of the S.F.L. Division 4 when they were competitive throughout against Askea’s 1st team at Presentation College on Saturday 12th June.
In the early stages Tinryland raced into a 2 point lead with well taken points from Cormac McElligott and Jack Lowry before a defensive error allowed Askea’s Conor Byrne in for a goal.
Tinryland remained competitive in that opening half scoring 4 further points from Jack Lowry, Cormac McElligott, Jody Doyle- Huitton and McElligott again following another well struck free from the towering centre back. Askea retired at the interval with 6 points advantage courtesy of another goal from former Tinryland player John Dwyer.
Half Time Score Askea 2-6 Tinryland 0-6.
When the second half began the town team increased their advantage with another John Dwyer goal and a point from Conor O’Brien another player who started out in the blue and white hoops.
Tinryland remained competitive with another conversion from their best player Cormac McElligott and it took a brilliant save from Askea keeper Brian Regan to maintain the Sky nBlues advantage before the lively Jack Lowry tagged on 2 further Tinryland poins before the 2nd half water break.
Tinryland enjoyed their best spell after the Break and added on 3 further pointsd via McElligott, (2), and jack Lowry before Askea finished strongly scoring 3 further points from Conor O’Brien, Jack Phelan and James Phelan.
Final score Askea 3-11 Tinryland 0-12.
Tinryland’s next league will be against Ballinabranna at home on Saturday next 19th June at 6.30 p.m.
