St Lomans GAA Club Notes 22/05/2023:

ACFL Division 4:

St Lomans Mullingar 0-15 Rosemount 1-11

Our third team made it a hat-trick of victories for the Blues’ adult teams this weekend with a much-needed victory in Rosemount. The weekend of good weather had notably disappeared on brisk morning. The sides began with two points each, Oisín Hogan opening the scoring for the visitors, followed by a score from Niall Dowdall.

The Hosts began to get the upper hand in the second quarter and ran into a three-point lead. The teams hit two points each before the break with Tristan Graham at the double for the saints. In truth, Lomans had Frank Kavanagh in goals to thanks for a couple of super saves, had it not been for him and some wasteful Rosemount shooting the game may have been out of sight.

The visitors began the second half with a renewed vigour and attacked Rosemount with the aid of a breeze. Two Tadhg Kenny points either side of a Graham free brought the sides level. The teams went score for score again this time with Shane Mulderry doing the damage for the Mullingar side.  Rosemount responded with a couple of scores to see them lead by two with just fifteen minutes to play.

The saints responded through a Tadhg Kenny Mark and a Tristan Graham free which saw the sides level pegging once more. Adam Lynch put Lomans in front briefly with an excellent point, followed by a Graham free but the hosts found the net at the other end, and it looked like the die was cast for the blues.

Lomans showed great character though and finished strongly with three exceptional points via Seanai Bracken and a double from Niall Dowdall. Rosemount reduced the deficit to the minimum with a late point, but it was not enough as Lomans managed to grind out the two points on offer.

This was a well-deserved hard-fought victory, however Lomans will need to pick up at least one more win from their remaining matches to guarantee safety. On the day performances from Oisín Hogam, Niall Dowdall, Tristan Graham and Shane Mulderry were instrumental in securing the victory.
